  4. Have you seen the new issue of "Educational Leadership" that is available through our library? The journal title is "Helping ELLs Excel." Each article is relevant to your work next week. On page 21 there is a chart with the stages of second language acquisition and tiered questions. This chart will help you guage your questions with your EL.

  7. I'm excited to discover intuitive programs that can be incorporated into the class that will both engage students, and compliment my teaching style. I am nervous about switching between the iPad and an analogue class effectively though.

Additionally, NASBE (National Association of State Boards of Education) released an interesting policy report a couple of years ago in regards to digital learning. There are some fascinating ideas of blended learning within this policy, including utilizing technology to help students who are behind on credits catch up more quickly than traditional means of learning:

  11. I come from a high school who decided to try using iPads in select classes after a trial year at the middle school, and the teachers were very reluctant to use them or do much online because it either never worked or they didn't want to stray from the paper and pen they were used to. With that being said, I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn how to actually use technology and how to use it effectively in classrooms to enhance learning!

    1. Megan, this is important information that you bring to our experience. My goal is to find the balance of leveraging amazing technology with ease WITHOUT loosing the AMAZING people in our classroom. I am confident that we will strike that balance together. I am also really excited to be engaging in this type of professional development with my teacher education students. Welcome.
